about
This song is about my attempts to make myself happy despite being alone. I was inspired by Andrea Dorfman's short film "How To Be Alone", and the song contains a sample from the introduction to the film. The song has calming vocals and guitar, as well as ambient synth sounds and drums, that elicit empathy from the listener. This is the perfect song for the winter months, and the perfect song to be alone with.
lyrics
I cut my hair
and change my clothes
I'll make it hard
for me to know
Life on the edge
out of control
Bite my tongue
don't say a word
I'll make it hard
to be heard
Unkissed lips
Unlaughed jokes
Heavy heart
Now I'm alone
And I'll ask
Where I went wrong
And I'll ask
What do you do with no one?
I'll take a walk
then hit a wall
I'll lay in bed
for hours long
I'll cry my tears
and write a song
If you are at first lonely, be patient.
If you've not been alone much, or if when you were,
you weren't okay with it, then just wait.
You'll find it's fine to be alone once you're embracing it.
Isn't it lonely?
And I'll ask
Where I went wrong?
And I'll ask
What did I do?
And I'll ask
Where I went wrong?
And I'll ask
What do you do with no one?
